Springing Off For The New Season

Our 2014 season got off to a fantastic start last night with Secret Success winning at Kempton. We are now looking forward to our first big weekend at Newbury where we have 5 horses running on the Saturday.

Most notably Berkshire heads for the Greenham, he is fit and has been working well. We think he has improved from last year and we are hoping for a good run. For the first time we have a good draw! Fingers crossed!

Bluegrass Blues runs in the Spring Cup, he's in great form and is working really well. He's got a good draw and is fit and well.

Fort Berkeley and Dark Days two of our three year old maidens they run in the 4.05pm. Fort Berkeley is a half brother to First Mohican and we think he is a really nice horse in the making. Dark Days is a very good looking, stoutly bred horse and we expect him to run well and come on for the run.

Our final runner is Circumvent. He ran very well in the Winter Derby, he's a different horse on grass but all being well we expect him to run a big race.

Here's to a fantastic weekend racing and the start of a great season!!

  1. Hmm not sure what to make of that run by Berkshire .
ive watched it a few times now to try and work it out .
i wasnt there and the straight looking back from a distance away tele angle can be misleading.
yes he pulled hard ,throwing his head around for a whiles but so did a few of the others maybe not quite as much.
But he faded to basically nothing there, a long ways out and the other horse in blue that pulled the same-ish ran on at the end.
Not sure its simply a case of pulling too hard fresh first time out ,as said the horse went out like a light.
i didnt bet as head must rule the heart and there were some very good horses which 7 or back to 6 furlong may be optimum trip .
also got to say lot of the two year old horses havnt gone forward as three year olds in recent times so need to watch them first..
seen a few . comments that maybe Dante nxt .
Again its not always the answer when get a dissapointing run to throw them up a few furlongs further and expect big things to happen.
The guineas horses are usually horses that stay 1 mile 1 to 2 as the uphill finish usually brings the stamina in to play last furlong.
Anyways its the first run of a long season so hopefully onwards and upwards and some big runs and wins ahead for Berkshire.
Good luck with all the horses and for the season especially two year olds which i always look forward to seeing run in the yard .
will be cheering them on as usual and hopefully pocketing a few pounds for good measure.
Onwards and upwards as the say.

  2. Like Rob I could not see why Berkshire did not run his usual style of race-this time he didn't have a poor draw to compensate for.So it's a mystery! Hopefully you will be able to get to the bottom of the problem and get him right in time for the Guineas -I have backed him anti-post at 25/1 down to 12/1 for him to win.As long as he is OK and gets back to form sometime I will be happy and as I've only backed him with money he won me at Ascot and Newmarket last year.Secret Success was great the other night and I do wonder how much he could have won by if driven out.I hope that Saturday can be regarded as a warm up for better things to come for Whatcombe later in the season-Perhaps it will actually be advantageous and get stable runners better prices as last season they had got pretty skinny as time went on and the horses kept on winning.
